Our Story

Born in the heart of Belém

HB Design grew out of the Pará Gems and Jewelry Program, launched in 1998, and started as a craft on July 18, 2002, by designer Helena Bezerra. What began as a dream became a benchmark in original Amazonian jewelry.

The company was formalized in 2007 and, in 2008, earned its own unit at the São José Liberto Space, the Pará Jewelry Hub, with an in-house goldsmith workshop. There, tradition and design meet to turn local raw materials into unique pieces.

The Founder

Helena Bezerra

Designer, goldsmith and creator of HB Design

Helena Lúcia Macedo Bezerra Mergulhão is a fashion designer with a postgraduate degree in Fashion Product Management and goldsmithing training from SENAI-PA. With over 20 years devoted to jewelry, she is the first woman goldsmith of the Pará Jewelry Hub.

For more than 15 years she has been part of the productive incentive program of the Amazon Institute of Gems and Jewelry, developing original collections inspired by Pará culture. For Helena, design is the instrument that mediates between the natural and the artifact, between creator, entrepreneur and artisan.

“Each piece is a wearable part of the Amazon: the forest translated into silver, color and affection.”

Exclusive Technique

The Pará enameling

HB Design's signature is cold translucent enameling, the Pará enameling, a technique developed by Helena Bezerra herself. It sets vibrant colors onto silver without a kiln, preserving the translucent glow that echoes the waters and light of the Amazon.

Combined with her studies of Pará inlay work, this technique gives each piece an unmistakable visual signature: the color of the living forest, applied piece by piece, by hand, at the painting bench.

From Sketch to Jewel

How a jewel is born

A handcrafted journey where design, engineering and hands come together.

Design & drawing

It all starts with a sketch. The idea becomes a detailed project, shaped by a designer.

Mold

From the model we create the mold, which lets us reproduce the piece by casting.

Wax injection

Wax is injected into the mold, forming the replicas that make up the wax tree.

Wax tree

The wax pieces are grouped into a tree and coated with a refractory material.

Silver casting

The wax is burned out and the cavity is filled with molten silver, creating the silver tree.

Cutting

Each piece is cut and separated individually from the silver tree.

Pará enameling

At the painting bench, color is applied by hand with the house's exclusive technique.

Finishing

Final touch-ups, polishing and the shine that makes each jewel ready to wear.

Commitment

Wearable sustainability

Crafting jewelry responsibly is part of HB Design's DNA. We work with reclaimed silver and natural Amazonian materials, reducing waste and giving new purpose to what would often be discarded.

Açaí seeds, Brazil nut husks, buffalo horn, cacao nibs, reclaimed wood and even rope from the Círio procession take new form in pieces that celebrate the standing forest. Each jewel is born from a fruit, a seed or a leftover of the region, an invitation to value the Amazon without consuming it.

Our Art

Collections that tell stories

More than jewelry, we create memories. Each year, HB Design translates a chapter of Amazonian culture into an original collection, from the faith of the Círio to the biodiversity of the forest, from the taste of cocoa to the emotions that shape us.
